Fresh, elegant. Floral, citrus and hazelnut, brioche and fresh bread. For aperitif or with Southeast Asian food. Jancis Robinson 16.5/20

Pale gold in color. Fresh on the nose, elegant floral aromas, hints of citrus fruit and hazelnut. We find the same citrussy freshness on the palate, which then evolves into a balance of richness – with notes of brioche and fresh bread – and uplifting minerality. Made from 60% Pinot Meunier, 20% Pinot Noir, and 20% Chardonnay.

Distinctive champagne producer La Maison Penet makes wine under the Alexandre Penet and Penet-Chardonnet Grand Cru brands. Alexandre Penet is a great introduction to the maison’s style of artisanal, refined champagne focusing on freshness and purity, as well as expression of terroir (all their wines see low dosage – sugar addition – to preserve that purity).

Serving suggestions: Perfect on its own, or goes very well with oysters, scallops or lobster, and most Southeast Asian food, as long as it is not too spicy.
