Alexandre Penet, Champagne Grand Cru Brut Nature
Pale yellow with amber hues, very fine bubbles. Fresh nose, intense aromas of red fruits and grilled toast with a slight touch of ginger and other spices. Full bodied and rich, silky, with a long mineral finish. A distinctive Champagne very expressive of its terroir (80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay from Verzy and Verzenay on the Montagne de Reims), combining the purity and steeliness of no final sugar addition (zero dosage) with the textural richness resulting from its particular maturation process. 12%. Drink now to 2025.

Serving suggestions: A great champagne to serve with food: crustaceans, shellfish, cheese soufflé. Char siew and other Cantonese dishes, or, to go all the way, truffles.
La Maison Penet
Distinctive champagne producer La Maison Penet makes wine under the Alexandre Penet and Penet-Chardonnet Grand Cru brands. All their sparkling wines are generally hard to find outside France. Alexandre Penet is a great introduction to the maison’s style of artisanal, refined champagne focusing on freshness and purity, as well as expression of terroir (all their wines see low dosage – sugar addition – to preserve that purity). The cuvées Alexandre Penet Extra Brut, Rosé Extra Brut and Grand Cru Brut Nature demonstrate both the wide range of produced champagnes as well as the quest for quality. With six hectares of Grand Cru vines in Verzy and Verzenay, Montagne de Reims, Penet-Chardonnet has received important critical acclaim, especially for its vintage cuvées and single-parcel bottlings. Penet-Chardonnet Champagne Grand Cru ‘TerroirEscence’ and Penet-Chardonnet Champagne Prestige Grande Réserve Grand Cru Extra Brut 2008 are two brilliant examples of how these wines express their exceptional terroir.
