Dirler-Cadé, Crémant d’Alsace AOC Brut Nature 2014
This is a sparkling wine made according to the traditional method, the same method used also for Champagne: a second fermentation is induced in the bottle and is the cause of the wine’s effervescence. No sugar has been added after completion of this second fermentation (Brut Nature). White peach and floral aromas contributed by the Pinot Gris (40%) and Auxerrois (35%) in the blend, as well as red berry notes from the Pinot Noir (25%), are complemented by delicate nuances of biscuit and brioche. Refreshing acidity and a mineral backbone make it into an elegant and well structured sparkling wine. Certified organic wine, biodynamic production. 12.5%. Drink now to 2020.
Serving suggestions: Great as aperitif or with food: savoury terrines, charcuterie, and all kinds of fried dishes.
Ratings: Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2018 14/20 and two stars for Domaine Dirler-Cadé
Established in 1871, the winery has been managed by the same family for five generations. Almost half of Dirler-Cadé’s 18 hectares of vineyards, all cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics, are classified as Grand Cru. Their range of classic Alsace dry white wines is highly reputed, in the first place from Riesling and Muscat, but also from Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Sylvaner.
Their Crémant is a well-made, serious and sophisticated sparkling wine.
