Mouriesse Vinum, ‘La Miroenière’ Gard IGP (Rhône) 2015
Very old Grenache vines provide the source material for this wine combining intensity of flavor with freshness and transparency, thanks to strict grape selection and very careful winemaking. Concentrated fruit of black cherries and fig jam, fragrant notes of dried aromatic herbs, eucalyptus and spice, are complemented by more than a hint of roast and smoke. Still, there are a soft brightness and velvety mouthfeel to it that make it a wine of immediate drinking pleasure. Organic wine. 14.5%. Enjoy now to 2023.
Serving suggestions: A natural match for grilled meats and roasts, but also a versatile wine that goes well with most food of medium to robust flavor intensity. Its moderate tannins also make it a promising match with Chinese or Southeast Asian food.
Domaine Mouriesse Vinum
Renowned oenologist and consultant Serge Mouriesse bought his first parcel in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC in 2007 and has since continued to expand his holdings: today his estate covers 2.5 hectares of mostly old vines, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and on the right bank of the Rhône river, in the Gard departement. Environmental sustainability is a priority and the estate is certified organic. Viticulture and vinification are in every respect careful and precise, to ensure each wine will reflect optimally terroir and vintage.
2015 is only the second bottling of the cuvée La Mirœnière, a powerful yet elegant wine from old-wine Grenache and a very individual expression of the southern Rhône character.
