Gallego Zapatero, Yotuel Selección Ribera del Duero DO 2014
14 months maturation in barricas, barrels made with French oak, provide this Tempranillo with well integrated notes of tobacco and spices, framing the powerful, expansive black fruit and providing, alongside well-managed acidity and ripe tannins, a nice structure. Lots of character and strength, and a nice protracted finish. 14%. Drink now to 2020.
Serving suggestions: Roasted lamb, couscous, mushroom risotto, vegetable stews, and of course tapas.
Bodegas y Viñedos Gallego Zapatero
The small Bodega Gallego Zapatero was established in 2005 in the heart of the Ribera del Duero appellation in north-central Spain. Their 9 hectares of vineyards are distributed over several parcels. To demonstrate the full breadth of Ribera terroirs, in addition to blended estate wines, they also focus increasingly on single-vineyard wines.
Here we present their flagship wine, the Yotuel Roble, in the 2015 vintage, as well as the more concentrated, old-vines Yotuel Selección 2014, and finally the single vineyard Yotuel Finca Valdepalacios 2010.
