Mas de Figuier, ‘Jean’ Pic Saint Loup AOP 2017
The ‘Jean’ is one of the two cuvees of Pic-Saint-Loup bottled by Mas de Figuier, and very representative of the appellation. It is a GSM blend (Syrah 50%, Grenache 45%, Mourvèdre 5%) of brilliant ruby color. A generous, complex nose of red fruit and black berries framed by enticing spicy notes. We find the same aromatic breadth on the palate, its ripe and voluptuous fruit framed by notes of pepper and dried herbs, with the Syrah contributing round and silky tannins. 14%. Organic wine. Drink now to 2025.
Serving suggestions: This wine supports a broad range of food flavors and textures, from Mediterranean to Middle Eastern to East Asian cuisines. Grilled lamb chops kebabs with cumin are favorite choices, as are vegetable stews and soft cheeses.
Mas de Figuier
The 22 hectares of organically farmed vines of the Mas de Figuier are located in the Pic Saint Loup appellation in the north east of the Languedoc. Here the weather is cooler and wetter, with large temperature variations from day to night, and the resulting wines combine ripe, sun-filled fruit with freshness and elegance.
